Open Air | Open Movement is a series of intimate dance and movement workshops and performances taking place on the Pillow Fort outdoor dance platform every Saturday from July 19th - September 6th. This series will include beginner-friendly workshops open to all bodies and showings of works-in-progress, new creations developed during artist residencies, or fresh takes on old works. Stretching over eight weeks, we invite you to join for as many weeks Open Air | Open Movement as possible to experience different takes and approaches to dance, movement and improvisation from both local and internationally renowned artists. We hope this will be an evolving space for movement practice, experimentation, and performance.
We’re excited to support and celebrate local artists such as Rashaun Mitchell + Silas Reiner, lily gold, Christy Funsch, zay thurgood and dani derks, and clyde fusei forth and deepen connections with past artists-in-residence Raven White and Kay Ottinger, who previously led improvisational workshops at Pillow Fort. Jeremy Hale will also teach an introductory Brazilian Zouk workshop infused with principals from contact improvisation.
